Hatch are specialists in building social value solutions aligned to education, skills & work. These solutions set our customers apart and deliver the measurable impact that both public & private sector procurement increasingly demand.
Our solution is flexible by design and fully-customisable, so we can work backwards from a budget, forwards from a brief, or bring entirely new concepts to the table for our clients, dependent on whether it’s a bid-driven project or a strategic social value engagement.
The below descriptions profile the types of solution we typically build & deliver: (but we love a new challenge, so if you’re working on something that doesn’t quite fit, we’d love to chat it through with you!)
Partner with Hatch to develop bespoke solutions that differentiate your commitment(s) from other bidders. Whether you’re working backwards from a requirement or building something ground-up that cuts through, we’ve got you covered.
The government’s national strategic priority for economic wellbeing & growth is centred in solutions that drive employability & career outcomes to mitigate growing levels of economic inactivity. We have proven impact delivering solutions that target key communities within this demographic and empower them into roles across the tech industry. For example:
Hatch can advise how to develop stand-out solutions aligned to central government, local government and/or private sector procurement respectively (through preferred frameworks such as TOMs, IES and NSVS).
Stay ahead of demand and embed social value throughout your people-centric processes by adopting Hatch’s diverse hiring model. This, in itself, will deliver intrinsic, measurable social value that builds over time, which in turn can be reported & projected on for any future procurement processes that don’t demand bid-specific solutions.
Devise & implement solutions to maximise the measurable impact of social value funding you’ve already secured, and strengthen your business case ahead of contract renewals & new engagements.
A large professional services firm is seeking a differentiated social value solution to add weight to a high-value public sector tender submission. The solution must be aligned to the tendering body’s ambitions to deliver impact within the criminal justice system, with a preference for commitments that prioritise employability for prison leavers and deliver longer-term measurable impact on reoffending rates.
Hatch developed a custom solution to identify potential in 10 serving inmates at a large, London-based category C male prison, train them in a high-in-demand tech discipline prior to their release, and transfer them into relevant tech roles with both our client and an external network of inclusive employers once they’re through the gates. This solution was developed with both repeatability and scale in mind, in order that our client can run repeat cohorts across the UK prison estate to maximise the measurable impact of this tranche of funding, and with a view to the solution’s inclusion across future procurement processes.
A mid-size engineering company has a long-standing, high-volume annual graduate Academy intake as their singular early-careers entry-point. The pipeline is inherently lacking in diversity, and they struggle with retention beyond 12-months. Meanwhile, the company are engaging more and more with local government procurement and have struggled to develop appropriate social value solutions for each unique process.
Hatch developed a new strand to their Academy programme that embeds social value into their existing hiring practices, and delivers ongoing measurable impact that grows throughout the year as they hire. The new Academy is guided by national geospatial data (or can be aligned to the tendering body’s locality) and targets NEETs in areas of highest socio-economic depravation across the UK, training cohorts of these high-potential candidates into the tech vacancies our client was otherwise struggling to fill and retain with graduates. This has enabled our client to report & project on the measured impact created through the programme when engaging in public sector procurement, standardising their approach.
A boutique advisory firm serving the construction industry has already unlocked social value funding through a local government contract, but a portion of that funding remains unspent. With a view to the contract renewal fast approaching, our client wanted to build a solution that would maximise the measurable impact of the funding & deliver real social value across this local authority’s key areas of focus.
Working backwards from the available funding, we designed a custom solution targeting the long-term unemployed demographic residing within that local authority. Testing the local employer network’s skills demands, we designed a curriculum & training pathway that prepared a cohort of candidates to fill those roles, and leveraged our combined networks, alongside the local authority & its supply chain, to place the candidates into relevant tech roles. This solution contributed to the contract renewal & will be repeated quarterly under the new funding tranche.
